In October 2017, the City of Roswell surveyed its employees to gauge their interest in learning more about personal finance management and goal-setting.

Of the 243 employees who completed the survey, more than half said that money stresses them out, and 84 percent indicated that they'd be interested in improving their money-management skills.

Our employees' feedback is consistent with feedback received from employees throughout the nation who have been asked the same questions. Nationally, about 83 percent of employees indicate that they are looking for help to improve their finances, but they simply don't know where to go to get it.

A Free Financial Wellness Program for City of Roswell Employees!

The City of Roswell has been growing its Wellness Program with a variety of activity and nutrition initiatives over the past two years, but when our employees indicated that money management was leading to a lot of anxiety, the City realized that the program should be expanded to include Financial Wellness.

The City researched a variety of financial wellness programs before deciding to partner with the SmartDollar program. SmartDollar is a workplace financial wellness program that offers a step-by-step approach to handling money with a renowned expert in personal finance, Dave Ramsey. More than 4.5 million people have taken control of their money through Dave Ramsey's program, and it is now available to City of Roswell employees for free!

How It Works

SmartDollar is a free benefit for City of Roswell Employees, designed to help you get on track, stay motivated, and reach your financial goals. Participation is voluntary, and the program is confidential and secure.

• Starting on Monday, January 8, 2018, you can create a new account at the secure Roswell SmartDollar website.

• Once you've created an account, you'll have access to motivating and inspiring videos, audio, and written content.
  
  
• You'll also be introduced to the Baby Step Plan, a step-by-step approach to personal finance from best-selling author and financial expert, Dave Ramsey.
  
  
• As you watch the lessons and progress through the steps, you'll earn SmartDollar Points, which will put you in drawings for some great prizes.

In addition to the main video lessons, there are hundreds of supplemental video and audio clips ranging in length from two minutes to 30 minutes. Online Budgeting Tool Included: In addition to educational material, your SmartDollar account includes premium access to the EveryDollar online budgeting tool (a $99/year value). EveryDollar allows you to link your bank accounts and your budget, helping you plan your spending and reach your financial goals faster. EveryDollar can be used daily, weekly or whenever you choose.
